Historical

George commenced painting for the Papunya Tula Artists in about 1976. He spent considerable time at several of the outstations near his homeland including Walungurru ( Kintore ) and the Mt. Leibig region known as Yamunturrngu. At this time George was working with other prominent artists such as Ray James Tjangala and Joseph Jurra Tjapatjarri. His paintings demonstrate the powerful imagery of the secret Tingari ceremonies which form a significant part of the Pintupi tradition. His ancestral country includes the sites known as Wala Wala, Kulkuta Karrku and Kilpinya.
